Once home general work began which involved antifouling, varnishing woodwork, and servicing of the engine and rigging. Antifoul is a paint which is applied to the submerged part of the hull aiming to keep marine growth and crustaceans off, it is also a word which haunts sailors especially when the old stuff needs to be scraped off!
