Why?
I have different reasons for attempting the challenge, the experience, the challenge but the main reason it to raise money for RYA Sailability.
I
have chosen Sailability as the charity as I believe that everyone, if
possible should be able to experience the sport of sailing and
Sailability is a charity which makes this happen. I have helped with
Westbere Sailing opportunities (WSO) and it has exposed me to the
amazing organisation of which Sailability is. It is a voluntary run
charity with centres all over the country, found at all centres is an
enthusiastic and dedicated team of people who are always ready to help.
Last season (2007) WSO volunteers put in some 5,000hours and ran 93
sessions for 1,200 people.
Helping with WSO has touched me and I will always remember the smiles on peoples faces who have been able to experience sailing with Sailability’s help. When sailing you become free to go where you like and do what you want and this is the same for everybody and the more people we can help achieve this the better.
